Fallis Scores 22 Points as Mastodons Drop First Road Game

INDIANAPOLIS - The Fort Wayne women's basketball team was unable to maintain its six-point halftime lead as the Mastodons dropped their first road game of the season to Butler 70-64.
The 'Dons were led by Peyton Fallis' career-high 22 points. Fallis connected on 7-of-11 from the floor, including a career-high four from downtown. Rachel Rinehart went for 10 points and four rebounds while handing out a team-high five assists. Isis Parker added nine points to go along with a team-high five rebounds and two steals.
The Mastodons fell behind early as Butler started the game with a 17-4 advantage. The Fort Wayne defense stepped up in the second quarter, forcing seven Butler turnovers as the 'Dons out-scored the Bulldogs 21-5. Fallis connected on a three-pointer with seconds remaining in the half as the Mastodons led 34-28 at the break.
The 'Dons scored the first four points of the third quarter, but the Bulldogs answered with a 17-3 run as the Mastodons trailed 45-41 with 3:43 to play in the period. Fort Wayne cut the lead to one, but with 6:05 left in the fourth, Butler used a 6-0 run to extend its lead for good as the 'Dons were unable to make a push late.
On the day, the Mastodons hit 22-of-51 (43.1%) from the floor and 6-of-13 (46.2%) three-point attempts, while making 14-of-16 (87.5%) at the free throw line.
Fort Wayne returns home to host Oakland on Saturday (Nov. 18) for a 4:30 p.m. game at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
