3/24/2016 4:23:00 PM | General, Women's Volleyball, Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT)
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) will be hosting a sitting volleyball clinic alongside USA Volleyball Sitting National Team members, Kaleo Kanahele and Stephen Bracken, on March 29 beginning at 6:30 p.m. inside the Gates Center. The event is free and open to all who want to participate, regardless of skill level.
Kaleo Kanahele was a silver medalist at the 2012 London Paralympics. Both Kanahele and Bracken will be on hand to teach, assist, and facilitate during the sitting volleyball session.
Sitting volleyball is an adaptive version of volleyball that was created for disabled persons in the Paralympics. However, sitting volleyball can be played by all able bodied and disabled individuals. The sport is growing in popularity at an international level.
This is a great opportunity to interact with IPFW's athletic teams, members of the USA national team, and to gain an appreciation for a new sport. To register, contact IPFW head women's volleyball coach Steve Florio at 260-481-6615 or by email.
