Former Fort Wayne Mastodon Evan Miller Promoted To TinCaps

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - There is a familiar face in a familiar place. Former Fort Wayne Mastodon pitcher Evan Miller, who was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 22nd round of the 2016 MLB Draft, has been promoted to the Class A Fort Wayne TinCaps. The Padres announced the move on Thursday (Aug. 25).
Miller was initially assigned to the Tri-City Dust Devils in Pasco, Washington of the Northwest League. He made 15 appearances for the Dust Devils, compiling a 2.08 ERA and .163 opponent batting average. Miller earned 25 strikeouts in 26.0 innings.
He recorded 31 appearances for the Mastodons during his two-year career. Miller struck out 165 in 152.1 innings of work from 2015 to 2016. He made 29 starts and owns school records for single-season starts (15 in 2015) and strikeouts (94 in 2015), while ranking third in career strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings (9.75).
The TinCaps have a road game against the Great Lakes Loons on Thursday, before returning home on Friday for a series against West Michigan.
