Schroeder Leads Men's Golf on Day One at Dayton

KETTERING, Ohio - The Fort Wayne men's golf team shot rounds of 298 and 308 during the first day of the Dayton Flyer Invitational, as the Mastodons are tied for eighth with a day-one score of 606.
Hosted by Dayton at the par-71, 7,055-yard NCR Country Club, South Course, Miami (Ohio) leads the field with a 36-hole score of 569. Tied for the individual lead are Beau Breault from Eastern Michigan and Will Grimmer of Ohio State with scores of 3-under-par 139.
The Mastodons are tied with Northern Kentucky, and sit 15 shots back of seventh place DePaul.
Leading the way was Zach Schroeder carded a 1-under-par 70 during the opening round and finished his second 18 holes with a 77. Schroeder finished the day tied for 20th place with a 5-over-par 147. Callahan Elzey and Eric Brinker are tied for 49th place with 36-hole scores of 153. Brinker carded rounds of 78 and 75, while Elzey finished with scores of 76 and 77. Josh Keating is tied for 55th entering the final day with a 155, shooting rounds of 76 and 79. Zac Turi closed out the scoring for the 'Dons in a tie for 61st, carding rounds of 76 and 84 to finish at 160 and tie for 61st.
The final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational will be an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, October 17.
