Softball Earns Nine NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Awards

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nearly half of last year's Fort Wayne softball team has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete. In all, nine players earned the honor, the most in program history for a single season.
To qualify for the honor, students must have achieved a 3.5 grade-point average for the 2016-17 academic year.
The group was led by now graduated seniors Lizzy Snodgrass and Jessica Murray. Also included in the honor are is returning junior Lauren Watson and sophomore Maria Palmegiani. The list also includes Darby Shaw, Taylor Bolyard, Kristen Zarate, Olivia White and Sierra Miranda.Â
"We are so proud of the academic accomplishments of all our softball student-athletes," said Coach Germaine Fairchild. "Those who earned this NFCA recognition have set a high standard for all members of our program to aspire to."
