Vargas to Play for Puerto Rico in the XII Pan American Cup

SAN JUAN, P.R. – Fort Wayne men's volleyball student-athlete Pelegrin Vargas will participate in the XII Pan American Cup for Puerto Rico from July 23 to 31 in Ottawa, Canada.
The sophomore is one of 19 players named to the roster. The 12-team event also includes the United States, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Chile. The top five finishers from the Pan American Cup qualify for the 2018 World League that will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado from September 23 to 30.
In his first season for the Mastodons, Vargas was named to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) All-Freshmen Team and was named All-MIVA Honorable Mention. Vargas started 20 matches and averaged 3.18 kills per set.
