ABOUT THE MASTODONS (1-3-3, 0-0-0 Summit League)
The Fort Wayne men's soccer team travels to Peoria, Illinois to play Bradley. It will be the third Missouri Valley Conference opponent in four games for the Mastodons. Fort Wayne played Central Arkansas last Sunday and travels to new MVC member Valparaiso on Monday.
ABOUT THE BRAVES (4-3-0, 1-0-0 Missouri Valley)
Bradley is heading into the weekend with a shutout victory over Loyola Chicago last week 1-0. Loyola was picked as the preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite. Younes Dayekh scored the only goal for the Braves.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Although Bradley leads the all-time series 3-1-0. The 'Dons hold most recent decision over the Braves. Fort Wayne defeated Bradley last season 4-3. In last season's win, Thilo Korperich, Oscar Uyamadu, and Zach Tom scored for the Mastodons. Korperich's second goal in overtime ended the game with a 4-3 win over the Braves. The contest was played at Evansville as part of a tournament.
SITE OF COMPETITION
Bradley's home field, Shea Stadium, has a unique history. The venue name may sound familiar, as the former home of Major League Baseball's New York Mets shared the same name. But it has no connection. Bradley's venue was actually built as a baseball stadium and served as the home of the Midwest League's Peoria Chiefs until 2002 when the Chiefs moved downtown. The stadium was then converted to a soccer stadium for the Braves.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Dons fell to Detroit Mercy 2-1 on Tuesday. Matthew Lieshout had Fort Wayne's tally in the contest.
UP NEXT
The 'Dons travel to Valparaiso on Monday for a non-league match. The game will start at 7 p.m. ET. The 'Dons took down Valpo in an exhibition contest in August.
