Men’s Soccer And Liberty Finish In 1-1 Draw

DAYTON, Ohio – Fort Wayne men's soccer earned a second consecutive 1-1 tie with a draw on Friday (Sept. 8) evening to the Liberty Flames. The game was played as part of Dayton University's tournament. It was the first ever meeting between Liberty and Fort Wayne.
Both goals came in the opening half. Liberty scored first, with Kevin Mendoza finding the back of the net in the 18th minute. Alex Dominguez assisted on the play.
Fort Wayne found the equalizer 12 minutes later. Oscar Uyamadu scored his first goal of the year on an assist by Zach Tom.
The game saw 46 combined fouls called and nine combined cards handed out.
Brendan Stangel picked up four saves for the 'Dons over 110 minutes of work.
Liberty is now 2-1-1 while Fort Wayne moves to 1-1-3. The 'Dons now have three ties on the season after going the two previous seasons without a tie.
The 'Dons continue play on Sunday against Central Arkansas (Sept. 10) in an 11 a.m. start.
