The Mastodons enter the weekend 4-0, and are receiving votes in the AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll. The 'Dons are looking to become ranked in the Top 15 for the first time since April 20, 2015. Colton Stone is leading the 'Dons with 3.55 kills per set. Richie Diedrich leads Fort Wayne in hitting percentage with a .576 clip (23-4-33).
Scouting Harvard (0-0)
Harvard will come to Fort Wayne to play its first match of the season. The Crimson were picked to finish fifth in the EIVA Preseason Coaches Poll, one slot ahead of NJIT. Harvard will also play Ball State on its trip to Indiana. The EIVA foe returns Riley Moore and Jack Heavey as seniors from its 10-13 season in 2017.

Sacred Heart will come to Fort Wayne having played only one match so far this season: a match against Ball State the night before making the trip up I-69. The Pioneers were picked to finish seventh in the EIVA Preseason Coaches Poll, one spot below NJIT, and above Charleston. SHU finished the 2017 season 15-11, and qualified for the EIVA Tournament for the first time since 2010.
4-0 Start
Fort Wayne is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2007. This also marks the fourth time in program history that the Mastodons have started 4-0. The best start in program history was in 2007, when the 'Dons started 8-0. In that season, the Mastodons went to the national championship match, before falling to UC Irvine.
Bringin' Out the Brooms
Fort Wayne has started the season with four straight sweeps. This is the first time in program history that Fort Wayne has started the season with four straight victories without dropping a set. This four-match stretch is the longest streak of sweeps since 2007, when the Mastodons had six straight, including three matches in the MIVA tournament.
Keegan Player of the Week
Michael Keegan was the recipient of the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of January 16. Keegan earned this honor behind a 22-dig weekend at Princeton and NJIT. He also had two block assists against the Tigers. Keegan also chipped in five digs in the Mastodons' 3-0 win at NJIT.
Hot Hitting at Princeton
The Mastodons had hot hands at Princeton, ending the night with a .522 hitting clip. Tomas Gago led the 'Dons with a .700 clip, followed by Pelegrin Vargas (.615), Colton Stone (.375) and Tony Price (.364). Richie Diedrich had five kills on five attempts for a perfect 1.000 and Michael Keegan also had a kill on his only attempt. Keegan dished out 32 assists, and the 'Dons recorded 40 total assists on 41 kills.
Last Time Out
Fort Wayne topped NJIT in straight sets in Newark, N.J. The Mastodons led wire-to-wire in the first set, behind Colton Stone and Pelegrin Vargas, who had 12 and 11 kills respectively for the match.
Next Time Up
The Mastodons will hit the road for a midweek match at NAIA No. 5 Lourdes in Sylvania, Ohio on Wednesday (Jan. 24). For the weekend matches (Feb. 2-3, the 'Dons will travel to Saint Francis (Pa.) and Penn State, who are both ranked in AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll for the week of Jan. 16.
