FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne men's volleyball team hits the road on Wednesday (Jan. 24) for a day trip to Lourdes in Sylvania, Ohio.

Lourdes enters the match 1-2, after being selected fifth in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Poll. LU jumped to No. 4 in the most recent poll (Jan. 23). The Gray Wolves' lone win was a four-set victory over Saint Ambrose. Lourdes fell to Culver Stockton in four and Missouri Baptist in three. Fort Wayne native Evan Gebert leads the Gray Wolves with 4.09 kills per set.
Undefeated Start
Fort Wayne started 4-0 for the first time since 2007. This marks the fourth time in program history that the Mastodons have started 4-0. The best start in program history was in 2007, when the 'Dons started 8-0. In that season, the Mastodons went to the national championship match, before falling to UC Irvine. Through six matches, the 'Dons are still undefeated, which is the third time in program history to start 6-0. 2007 and 1999 were the two other seasons Fort Wayne went 6-0 .
Bringing Out the Brooms
Fort Wayne started the season with four straight sweeps. This is the first time in program history that Fort Wayne started the season with four straight victories without dropping a set. Fort Wayne also added a sweep against Sacred Heart, which moved the total to five for the year. This four-match stretch is the longest streak of sweeps since 2007, when the Mastodons had six straight, including three matches in the MIVA tournament.
Gago Player of the Week
Tomas Gago was the recipient of the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of January 23. Gago had 14 blocks over two matches against Harvard and Sacred Heart, averaging two per set. In addition to his defensive performance, he also contributed 11 kills, with a perfect 6 for 6 against SHU. Because of this, he earned the Off the Block/Springbak Inc. National Freshman of the Week.
Keegan Player of the Week
Michael Keegan was the recipient of the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of January 16. Keegan earned this honor behind a 22-dig weekend at Princeton and NJIT. He had 17 digs and two block assists against the Tigers. Keegan chipped in five digs in the Mastodons' 3-0 win at NJIT.

Fort Wayne is ranked in the top five in the country in assists per set (4th), hitting percentage (3rd), kills per set (2nd) and win/loss percentage (T-1st). The 'Dons own 12.32 assists per set, .364 hitting percentage, 13.21 kills per set, and a perfect 1.000 win/loss percentage. Individually, Michael Keegan is fourth in the country and first in the MIVA in assists per set with 10.74. Tomas Gago is fourth in the nation and third in the MIVA in blocks per set with 1.385. Pelegrin Vargas is seventh in the country and second in the MIVA with 3.79 kills per set.
