Scouting the Mastodons (3-11-3, 0-6-0 Summit League)
The 'Dons are still looking for their first Summit League win of the season, but they are led by freshman Kayla Wisniewski up front with six goals. Haley Lydon has played about two-thirds of the available minutes in goal, racking up 54 saves. In a little more than half of that time, Lorah Pund has tallied 41 saves.
Scouting the Fighting Hawks (8-4-2, 2-2-1 Summit League)
North Dakota is 2-2-1 in Summit League play after winning its first two League matches since becoming a member. Since then, the Fighting Hawks have dropped a 2-1 match to North Dakota State and a 1-0 decision at Denver. A 1-1 draw at Omaha was UND's only point since a 5-0 win over Western Illinois on October 4. Katie Moller leads the North Dakota offense with 10 goals on the year, and Olivia Swenson serves as the last line of defense in goal, leading UND to nine shutouts on the year.
Starting a New Series
Thanks to North Dakota joining the Summit League this season, the Mastodons will face the Fighting Hawks for the first time in the 2018 season.
Look at All Those Minutes
Defender Cesiley LaCourt leads Purdue Fort Wayne in minutes played this season with 1565, spending just 25 minutes on the bench this season. Paityn Fleming and Allyson Hayner come in just a few minutes shy of LaCourt with 1551 minutes played.
In the League Rankings...
Freshman Kayla Wisniewski ranks third in the Summit League in goals with six, and third in shot accuracy, placing 56 percent of her shots on goal. Hannah Kroger comes in third in the league in total assists with 5.
You Get an Assist, and You Get an Assist, and...
In the Mastodons' match against Chicago State, the team recorded eight assists, which set the program record for assists in a single match. This was also good for 9th in the country in single-match assists at the time.
Spreading the Ball Around
The Mastodons have had eight different players score so far this season, led by Kayla Wisniewski, who has six. There have also been nine 'Dons to distribute an assist, but Hannah Kroger leads that category with five.
Brace Yourself
Kailyn Wade tallied a brace during Saturday's (Oct. 13) match against Eastern Illinois. Her first goal was the first for the Mastodons in minute 50. She was sent a long pass through the midfield from Kendall Quinn and Kayla Wisniewski. Her second goal came in the 80th minute, when she took a lefty shot from inside the 18 after a scramble.
Last Time Out
South Dakota took a 5-0 win over the Mastodons thanks to a high-powered offense that struck quickly in the beginning of the game and after halftime.
Next Time
The Mastodons will host the Western Illinois Leathernecks for their final match of the season on Thursday (Oct. 25) at 7 p.m.
