Mastodons Edged by Ramblers in Fourth Quarter

CHICAGO - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team came back to take the lead midway through the fourth quarter of its game at Loyola-Chicago, but the Mastodons were unable to hang on as they fell 81-67. The Loss drops the 'Dons to 3-5 on the season.
De'Jour Young led the Mastodons with 19 points as she connected on three, 3-pointers. Hannah Albrecht finished with a season-high 15 points as she also made three shots from long range. All nine of Anna Lappenküper's points from downtown. She also led the way with four assists. Sh'Toya Sanders led the Mastodons with five rebounds.
It was a back-and-forth first quarter as the 'Dons trailed by five at the end of the period. With the score tied 31-31 in the second, LUC ended the half and began the third with a 16-4 run. The Mastodons responded by tying the score 50-50 thanks to a 15-3 run over a 4:04 frame. The 'Dons took a three-point lead, 61-58, after Young converted on an and-one opportunity with 6:51 left in the game. The Mastodons were unable to keep their momentum going as the Ramblers went on a 16-2 run from there to pick up the victory.
For the day, the 'Dons shot a season-high 52.4% (11-21) from beyond the arc. They finished 26-of-58 (44.8%) from the floor and 4-of-8 (50%) at the free throw line.
Purdue Fort Wayne continues its road trip when the Mastodons travel to Milwaukee for a 3 p.m. ET game on Saturday, December 1.
