
Lieshout Scores 12th Goal In Setback At Western Illinois

The contest was Purdue Fort Wayne's final of the regular season. The 'Dons will continue play in the Summit League Tournament on Nov. 8. The 'Dons will be the No. 3 seed and play No. 2 seed Omaha.
Western Illinois scored three goals in the first half to take a quick lead in the contest. Drew Whalen scored the third and fourth goals of the game for the Leathernecks.
Purdue Fort Wayne's goal came in the 48thminute. It was a penalty kick goal by Matthew Lieshout, his 12thgoal of the season. Lieshout is now tied with Tom Johnson (1980) for 10thmost goals in a season by a Mastodon. Only Max Touloute in 2011 (13) and Chas Parry (13) in 2004 have scored more goals in a season during the DI era.
Purdue Fort Wayne is now 10-7-1 (2-3-0 Summit). Western Illinois is 4-10-3 (1-3-1 Summit).
