Mastodons Fall at North Dakota

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team dropped the second game of its road trip, falling at North Dakota 79-60 Sunday afternoon (Dec. 30). The Mastodons' record now sits at 4-10 on the season and 0-2 in the Summit League.
Sh'Toya Sanders led the Mastodons with 12 points and eight rebounds. Jaelencia Williams came off the bench to finish with 10 points and five rebounds. De'Jour Young also had 10 points and five rebounds, while dishing out a team-high three assists. Anna Lappenküper finished with a game-high four steals.
Purdue Fort Wayne opened the game scoring five straight points. The scoring run ended there for the Mastodons as North Dakota answered with a 9-0 run. Lappenküper connected on an and-1 just before the buzzer, as the 'Dons closed to deficit to 14-12 at the end of the first quarter. Kierstyn Repp hit a three to begin the second quarter, but the Fighting Hawks responded with a jumper on the ensuing possession. Over the next 4:22, UND went go on a 16-0 run as the 'Dons were unable to cut the deficit down to single digits again.
For the day, the Mastodons shot 19-of-60 (31.7%) from the floor, 4-of-17 (23.5%) on three-point attempts, and made a season-high 85.7% (18-21) at the charity stripe.
