Late Runs Lift Bison To 10-3 Win Over Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Tied at three entering the eighth, North Dakota scored one run in the eighth and six in the ninth to pull away from Fort Wayne on Sunday (March 25) afternoon. The Bison won the final game of the Summit League series 10-3.
Fort Wayne starter Shane Odzark went six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) while striking out seven Bison. He earned a no-decision. Trevor Armstrong (0-1) allowed no hits in two innings of relief but gave up a run in the eighth to take the loss.
Chris Choltes (2-0) earned the win in relief for NDSU. Kevin Folman picked up his fourth save of the year.
The Mastodons were down 3-0 in the second inning when a two-out single by Garrett Mohler scored Travis Upp and Shannon Baker. It made the score 3-2. The 'Dons tied it up in the sixth on a Baker single that scored Jack Lang. Baker's RBI came after a top of the sixth that saw Brady Hettinger throw a runner out at home and Odzark end his day with a strikeout and Bison on second and third.
Brock Logan, Baker and Upp each had two hits for the 'Dons.
North Dakota State improves to 11-11 (4-2 Summit). Fort Wayne falls to 4-15 (0-6 Summit). The 'Dons will be back in action on Wednesday (March 28) against Bowling Green. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Mastodon Field. Fort Wayne's previously scheduled game against Goshen scheduled for Monday (March 26) has been cancelled.
