Mastodons Jump One Spot on Final Day at Kingsmill

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Behind a 1-under-par 69 from Eric Brinker, the Fort Wayne men's golf team jumped one spot on the final day of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate to finish tied for 13th. The Mastodons carded a team score of 293 on the day to finish the 54-hole tournament at 895.
Hosted by the College of William & Mary at the Kingsmill Resort - The River Course, the par-70 course was played at 6,794 yards. Southern Illinois won the team title with a three-day score of 862. Peyton Wilhoit also of SIU captured the individual medalist honors with a 2-under-par 208.
The 'Dons finished tied with Towson, one shot back of 12th place Appalachian State.
For the round, Brinker led Fort Wayne with a 1-under-par 69, which included five birdies, third most by anyone for the round. Brinker finished the tournament tied for 57th with a 226.
Overall, Zach Schroeder was tops for the 'Dons, carding a 222 for the tournament, and a 73 for the day to finish tied for 30th. Cody White was tied for 51st, shooting a 77 during the third round and ended the week with a 225. Two shots back in a tie for 64th was Callahan Elzey, shooting a 78 for the round. Clark Tiller carded three birdies to round out the team scoring with a 74 on the day and a 233 for the tournament, tying for 101st.
Fort Wayne returns to action for the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate March 31-April 1 in Normal, Illinois.
