NORMAL, Ill. - The Fort Wayne men's golf team battled through cold and windy conditions during the first day of the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, as the Mastodons sit in fourth place with scores of 303-305-608.

Hosted by Illinois State at the par-71, 6,915-yard Weibring Golf Club, Duke leads the 17-team field with a 36-hole score of 587. Griffin Barela of Wisconsin stands atop the 90-player individual field with a 1-over-par 143.

The Mastodons finished the first round tied with Duke for second place, and ended the day six shots back of third place Wisconsin.

Leading the 'Dons for the day was Zac Turi with scores of 75-76-151, and is tied for 16th. He also led the team with five birdies on the day. Zach Schroeder and Callahan Elzey are one stroke back in a tie for 25th place. Schroeder carded a pair of 76's with four birdies, while Elzey finished with rounds of 77 and 75. Shooting a 155 for the day was Eric Brinker with rounds of 75 and 80, to tie for 43rd. Cody White rounded out the team scoring on the day, recording a 82-78-160 and is tied for 68th position.

The final round of the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate begins tomorrow, April 1, at 10:45 a.m. ET.
