ELMHURST, Ill. – Two Mastodon student-athletes from the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) represented Purdue Fort Wayne at the annual Summit League conference July 19-21 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
President Victoria Mills and Public Relations Coordinator Hannah Kroger of SALT were among 16 Summit League student-athletes representing their respective schools at the conference. Deputy Commissioner Myndee Kay Larsen and Assistant Commissioner of Championships and Sports Administration Stephanie Sabaduquia led the student-athletes in meetings for the weekend.
Student-athletes spoke with Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple, discussed the championship experience and promotional activities, and reviewed new proposals.
"It was a great experience to meet new representatives from each school in our league," said Mills. "We were able to collaborate to help come up with new ideas to better the student-athlete experience at our schools and to help push the league forward."
On the final day of meetings, the student-athletes collaborated on ideas to bring back to the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Meeting in the fall.
"It was really amazing being able to represent Purdue Fort Wayne at the Summit League SAAC Conference," said Kroger. "I learned so much from the Summit League staff and other student-athletes there. I hope to bring some of these ideas back to make our school the best it can be."
