8/23/2018 7:19:00 PM | Women's Soccer
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Despite a lead in the second half, Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer fell to Western Michigan 2-1 on Thursday (Aug. 23) at the WMU Soccer Complex.
The first half was quiet, as neither team found the back of the net through 45 minutes. Gabbie Mann had an opportunity with a shot on goal, but it did not convert.
In the second half, Deanna Hecht took a free kick from just outside the 18 that snuck past the wall of defenders and the Bronco keeper. The senior scored on her only shot on goal of the day. WMU's Bailey Kohorn scored twice after Hecht's first goal of the season, the first of which came in under three minutes after Hecht's.
Haley Lydon and Lorah Pund split the keeper duties again, with Lydon keeping the Broncos scoreless in the first 45 minutes. Pund finished with nine saves for the 'Dons.
The Broncos improve to 2-1-0, while the Mastodons fall to 0-2-1. The 'Dons are back in action on Sunday (Aug. 26) when they travel to Valparaiso for 5 p.m. EST kick.
