Scouting the Mastodons (0-2-1, 0-0-0 Summit League)
Purdue Fort Wayne comes to Valparaiso with an 0-2-1 record, picking up a tie against Indiana State. Kayla Wisniewski and Deanna Hecht have each scored a goal for the Mastodons on unassisted goals. Haley Lydon and Lorah Pund have split the duties in goal so far this season.
Scouting the Crusaders (1-1-1, 0-0-0 Missouri Valley Conference)
Valparaiso will welcome the Mastodons with a 1-1-1 record, with a 2-0 win at Green Bay, a tie at Eastern Illinois and a loss to Toledo. The Crusaders have two goals on the year, one coming from Ava Porlier, the other being an own goal. Valpo was shut out by both Eastern Illinois and Toledo.

Hannah Kroger scored a goal on a straight shot from outside the 18 to give the Mastodons a lead, but Valparaiso took the 4-1 victory in Fort Wayne.
Freshman Phenom
Kayla Wisniewski holds one of the two goals for the Mastodons so far in the regular season. The freshman scored against Ball State, a game during which she placed all three of her shots on goal. She also scored three goals in an exhibition contest against Saint Francis.
Defensive-Minded 'Dons
The Mastodons return four defenders from the 2017 team that held nine different opponents scoreless in the first half of each respective contest. The 2018 crew shut out Indiana State after 110 minutes of play, resulting in a 0-0 draw and held Western Michigan scoreless through the first half.
Fleming is Fast
Senior Paityn Fleming holds the record for the fastest goal scored in a Mastodon uniform. She scored in 28 seconds after the opening kick against Denver on October 27, 2017. Fleming surpassed former teammate Gaby Romo for the fastest goal, who scored in 34 seconds against IUPUI in 2016.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne fell to the Western Michigan Broncos 2-1 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Mastodons scored first with a goal from Deanna Hecht on a free kick just outside the penalty box in the 60th minute. WMU's Bailey Kohorn scored two goals after Hecht to take the win.
