1/10/2019 10:38:00 PM | Men's Basketball
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne shot 15-of-30 from long range in a 94-69 victory over Oral Roberts on Thursday (Jan. 10) evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Mastodons are now the only undefeated team in league play, moving to 4-0 and handing Oral Roberts their first conference loss.
Kason Harrell led the 'Dons with 22 points while adding six assists and only one turnover. John Konchar finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four steals and no turnovers. Konchar was 8-of-12 from the floor.
The game was tied at 28 with 6:30 left in the first half when a Konchar tip in put the 'Dons up 30-28. It would be the start of a 20-2 run featuring a 16-0 stretch that saw the 'Dons take the lead for good. Purdue Fort Wayne went 8-of-11 in the push including making all four attempts from beyond the arc. The 'Dons had no turnovers and recorded five steals as they diced up Oral Roberts' zone defense.
The 'Dons salted the game away with a 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) shooting performance in the second half.
When the final buzzer sounded the 'Dons had committed only six turnovers while forcing 18.
Konchar entered the night with 463 assists, third all-time in program history. He finished with five on the night to bring his total to 468 and pass Mo Evans' 466 from 2013-17. Konchar is now second all-time in program history and first during the Division I era. The career record holder is Lawrence Jordan's 913 from 1985-90.
Konchar is still second all-time in scoring but his total is now 1,802 career points. He is within striking distance of the program record. Frank Gaines scored 1,841 points from 2008-13.
