VERMILLION, S.D. – Purdue Fort Wayne saw their six-game win streak snapped on Sunday (Jan. 13) afternoon in an 87-73 loss at South Dakota.
Matt Weir led the Mastodons with 20 points. He was 6-of-6 from the floor including making all five attempts beyond the arc. His 20 points stand as a career high against a Division I opponent. He was one of four 'Dons in double-digits. Dylan Carl, John Konchar and Kason Harrell all had 13 points.
The Mastodons led 63-57 with less than 12 minutes left in the game when the Coyotes closed the game on a 30-10 stretch. The 'Dons would go 2-of-15 from the floor while South Dakota hit 9-of-14 shots and made 12-of-14 from the stripe.

A 17-0 Purdue Fort Wayne run put the 'Dons up 34-24 with 4:56 left in the first. It was part of a push that saw the 'Dons limit USD to no field goals for nearly seven minutes. Weir made four of his 3-pointers in this stretch.
The Coyotes cut the Mastodon lead to five at 42-37 at the break. South Dakota took a one-point lead before the first media timeout of the second half to make it close again.
South Dakota finished the game shooting 54.4 percent (31-of-57) while the 'Dons shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56).
