Mastodons Set for Rematch with Denver Women's Volleyball

DENVER - Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball is set for a match at Denver on Friday (Oct. 25). This will be the second meeting between the two squads this season, as the Mastodons defeated the Pioneers on Arnie Ball Court in September.

Scouting Denver
Denver has only lost one match since last meeting with the 'Dons on September 27, coming into Friday's match at 14-6, 6-2 Summit League. The Mastodons took the win on Arnie Ball Court 3-1, but Denver has won six Summit League matches since then. The Pioneers are coming off a pair of 3-0 wins over Western Illinois and North Dakota. The Pioneers are led by reigning Summit League Offensive Player of the Week Lydia Bartalo, who is averaging 3.03 kills per set and has a team-high 25 aces this season.

Purdue Fort Wayne has won its last five matches that have gone into five sets. This is the first time the Mastodons have won five straight five-setters since 2012.
Career Nights Lead to Wins
Katie Crowe and Rachael Crucis both had career-highs in the Mastodons' five-set win over South Dakota State. Crowe slammed down 28 kills, which surpassed her previous high of 24. Crucis had 32 digs, which tied her career-high set in September against Central Arkansas.
Sweeping Player of the Week Honors
Purdue Fort Wayne had a pair of Summit League Player of the Week recipients on October 15. Katie Crowe earned the Offensive Player of the Week honor after averaging 4.13 kills per set. Rachael Crucis brought home a Defensive Player of the Week award after racking up 5.5 digs per set against Oral Roberts and Omaha. Crowe and Crucis led the 'Dons to a three-set win over the Golden Eagles and a five-set win over the Mavericks.
Dubba-Yoos
Purdue Fort Wayne is entering the weekend having won 10 out of the last 12 matches. This stretch includes three straight at the Cougar Classic and seven Summit League wins.
Second in the League
The Mastodons are in second place in the Summit League standings more than halfway through the season. The 'Dons are 7-2 after beating North Dakota, Western Illinois twice, preseason-favorite Denver, Oral Roberts, Omaha and South Dakota State. Purdue Fort Wayne's only losses of the Summit League season were road tests at North Dakota State and league-leading South Dakota.
