Freshman Pair Leads Mastodons at Tom Tontimonia Invitational Day One

WESTLAKE, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team was led by a pair of freshman on Monday (Oct. 7) at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational.
Logan Anderson and Kasey Lilly shot 71-73-144 and 69-76-145, respectively, in their first collegiate action. Anderson was tied for 18th and Lilly was tied for 23rd. Anderson dropped five birdies on the first 18 and one on the second. Lilly carded four birdies in his first round for a two-under 69, and one in his second.
Eric Brinker tied with Lilly at 23rd thanks to his 70-75-145. Brinker holed out five birdies on the day, all of which were in his first round. He also had a bogey-free back nine in his second round.
Callahan Elzey heads into day two in a tie for 68th with a 75-80-155. He birdied three holes in his first go-around and dropped a two on hole three in his second round. Cody White finished day one in 73rd with a 76-83-159. White had a pair of twos for his day.
Jacob Deakyne competed as an individual, finishing in a tie for 50th. He had five birdies on the day, with two twos in his second 18.
Purdue Fort Wayne is in ninth place as a team with a 285-304-589, ahead of two Horizon League programs: Detroit Mercy and Northern Kentucky.
The third and final round of the Tom Tontimonia Invitational will take place tomorrow (Oct. 8).
