Repp Knocks Down 16 Points as 'Dons Drop Road Contest
2/20/2019 10:14:00 PM | Women's Basketball
BROOKINGS, S.D. - A scoring run to start the second quarter was not enough for the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team to overcome an early double-digit deficit, as the Mastodons fell at South Dakota State 92-68.
Kierstyn Repp led the 'Dons with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including hitting four shots from beyond the arc. Sh'Toya Sanders dropped in 14 points while De'Jour Young finished with 11. Jaelencia Williams led the team with five rebounds and three blocks.
South Dakota State led by as many as 15 points in the first quarter. The Mastodons came fighting back, closing out the first, and beginning the second on a 15-6 run. The 'Dons cut the deficit to six 31-25, as they scored on five consecutive possessions to start the second quarter. Unfortunately for the Mastodons, their offensive consistency would come to an end as SDSU countered with an 11-2 run to push the advantage back to double-digits for good.
The 'Dons finished the game shooting 25-of-56 (44.6%) from the field, 6-of-20 (30%) on 3-point attempts, and 12-of-19 (63.2%) at the charity stripe. The Mastodons fall to 6-20 on the year and 2-12 in Summit League play.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns home to host North Dakota Thursday, February 28 at 5 p.m.
