Post Players Lead Mastodons in Loss to North Dakota

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Jaelencia Williams and Sh'Toya Sanders led the Mastodons with 18 points each in Purdue Fort Wayne's 74-58 loss to North Dakota in the Gates Center.
Williams was 5 for 13 from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 from the charity stripe. Sanders earned her 18 on 6 of 9 shooting and six made free throws. The two combined for 13 rebounds, seven from Sanders and six from Williams.
North Dakota took a 6-5 lead with 6:18 left in the first quarter and held it for the rest of Thursday evening (Feb. 28). The lead ballooned to as many as 25 in the fourth quarter despite several small runs from the 'Dons. Purdue Fort Wayne pushed back in the final stretch, however, and shrunk the lead to 14 after a 6-0 push in 1:19. The run ended on a fastbreak jumper from Kierstyn Repp. Williams and Sanders each converted two freebies in this stretch.
Repp scored eight of her 11 points in the last 5:04 of the game, including two treys. She made all three of the 'Dons' makes from downtown.
The Mastodons shot 18 of 46 for 39.1 percent on the night compared to North Dakota's 30 of 64 for 46.9 percent. Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 6-21, 2-13 in the Summit League and North Dakota moves to 11-17, 6-9 Summit.
The 'Dons will move forward to Senior Day on Saturday (March 2) when they will honor lone senior De'Jour Young. The game will also serve as the 12th annual Pink Out, as the 'Dons face North Dakota State at 2 p.m.
