Sanders Has 22 Points in Senior Day and Pink Out Win Over NDSU

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Sh'Toya Sanders led the Mastodons with a season-high 22 points, seven boards and a career-high seven steals in Purdue Fort Wayne's 66-46 victory over North Dakota State. Saturday (March 2) was the first time a 'Don had seven steals against a Division I opponent since Haley Seibert on January 17, 2015.
The game served as the 12th annual Pink Out, as survivors of breast cancer were invited to walk onto the court at halftime to be honored.
De'Jour Young had 16 points, four assists, four steals and three boards after her Senior Day celebration. She played a team-high 39 minutes.
Purdue Fort Wayne will be the No. 8 seed in the Summit League Tournament and play No. 1 South Dakota State on Saturday (March 9) at 1 p.m. ET.
The Mastodons held the Bison scoreless for the final 2:32 of the first quarter in order to take a 12-9 lead heading into the first break. Hannah Hess hit a three-pointer as the clock expired to take the lead. NDSU pushed back in the second quarter, tying up the score at 23 with 2:42 left. The 'Dons finished the second 10 minutes with a 4-0 push off a made jumper from Ellie Dykstra and layup from Sanders.
In the third, the Mastodon lead expanded to nine points after Sanders made a free throw to go up 34-25. NDSU brought it within two, but the fourth quarter was all 'Dons. Purdue Fort Wayne was 12 of 16 in the final 10 minutes, shooting 75 percent from the floor to outscore the Bison 30-14. The 'Dons nailed all three treys in the fourth quarter.
The Mastodons shot 52 percent for the game (26 of 50), and 50 percent from downtown (6 of 12). Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 7-21, 3-13 Summit League while NDSU falls to 7-21, 4-12.
