Callahan Elzey Finishes T-11th at Crusader Collegiate

VALPARAISO, Ind. - Behind a one-under 72-70-73-215 from Callahan Elzey at the Crusader Collegiate on Tuesday (Sept. 17), Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf tied for seventh overall, finishing ahead of three Horizon League programs. The Mastodons carded an 888 (+24), topping IUPUI (896, +32), Detroit Mercy (901, +37) and Green Bay (910, +46).
Elzey used three birdies and 13 pars to finish one-over on his final day. He holed out with a four on one, three on eight, and two on 11. His bogey-free back nine helped him finish in 11th overall.
Eric Brinker and Burke Pitz tied for 35th place with a pair of 222's (+6). Brinker had a 79-69-74, using a bogey-free back nine for a two-over final round. Pitz finished with a 70-75-77. He birdied holes one and eight, and had five pars on the back.
Parker Deakyne finished the Crusader Collegiate in 58th place with a 229 (+13). He had a pair of birdies on one and 10, both par-fives. Cody White concluded his round in a tie for 80th with a 80-75-82-240 (+24). He also had two birdies on the day, with fours on six and 15.
Kasey Lilly competed as an individual, and he finished second among individuals, tied for 25th overall. He shot a 73-71-76-220 (+4).
Wright State won the Crusader Collegiate with an 853 (-11). North Dakota State's Van Holmgren was the individual medalist, who shot an 858 (-9).
The Mastodons are back in action on October 7 when they travel to the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State.
