League Opener Goes to Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – Purdue Fort Wayne dropped the 2019 Summit League opener on Saturday (Sept. 28) evening 6-0 to an Oral Roberts club receiving votes in the Division I Top Coaches 25 Poll.
Oral Roberts went up 2-0 at the half thanks to a pair of goals in the first 28 minutes. Reed Berry scored, assisted by Wanes Hobat, in the 19th minute. Then Juan Arias scored in the 28th minute.
The Mastodons earned a pair of quality chances in the first 15 minutes of the second half as they looked to even the match. Mathias Mikalsen's shot in the 56th minute required a diving save by Oral Roberts goalkeeper Miles Motakef. Two minutes later Emil Fosse found space in the box but a charging Motakef halted Fosse's shot.
The rest of the second half saw Oral Roberts add four goals to put the game away.
Oral Roberts improves to 8-1-0 (1-0-0 Summit League). The 'Dons fall to 3-6-0 (0-1-0).
The Mastodons are at Cincinnati in a non-league game on Tuesday (Oct. 1).
