Mastodons Fall to Morehead State on Sunday

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer finished its nonconference season 4-4-2 after falling to Morehead State 2-0 on Sunday (Sept. 29). This is the best nonconference record the Mastodons have had since joining the Summit League in 2007.
In the first 45 minutes, Haley Nelson from Morehead State scored at the 28th minute, deflecting a corner kick into the net. The Eagles tacked on one more goal with just 70 seconds left in the match.
Seven of the Mastodons' eight shots on the day were on goal. Morgan Reitano, Hannah Kroger led the way for the Mastodons in shots on goal with two apiece. Kayla Wisniewski, Breana Buche and Megan Sinnott contributed to the seven shots on goal total with one each.
Morehead State advances to 4-6-1.
The Mastodons will face off against the Western Illinois Leathernecks for the beginning of Summit League play on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 2 p.m. in Macomb, Illinois. The 'Dons defeated the Leathernecks in 2018 with a final line of 2-1. Wisniewski scored both goals in that contest.
