INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI topped Purdue Fort Wayne in a non-league men's soccer matchup on Sunday (Sept. 8) afternoon 2-0.
The two clubs went to the break scoreless. IUPUI's Alan Aguilar scored the only two goals of the game within four minutes of each other. First, he scored in the 61st minute, assisted by Gianni Catenacci and Fernando Borges. Then in the 64th minute he connected on a penalty kick goal.
The two teams each finished with five corner kicks. The 'Dons gave up only four shots on goal in the contest.
Blake Cearns had three shots for the 'Dons. Chris Baranowski totaled a pair of shots.
IUPUI improves to 1-1-1. Purdue Fort Wayne is now 1-3-0.
The 'Dons are back in action on Friday at home against Belmont. It will be the first ever Party At The Pitch with food trucks and food for students. Members of the 1999 men's soccer team will be recognized. Student Activities Board and Student Government Association are co-sponsoring the event. A women's game with Valparaiso will start at 7 p.m.
