Dylan Carl Scores Career-High 19 Points in Loss at UND

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Dylan Carl finished with a career-high 19 points on Sunday (Jan. 5) evening but the Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team fell 83-69 at North Dakota in Summit League play.
Carl's previous high was 15 points at Kent State earlier this year. Carl was 8-of-11 from the floor on Sunday against North Dakota. His eight field goals also marked a career total.
The Mastodons found themselves down 37-31 at the break after leading for the majority of the first half. Purdue Fort Wayne was up 27-24 with 3:56 left in the first before UND closed the half on a 13-4 run. The push continued for the Fighting Hawks in the second half and all told it was a 25-6 run that gave UND the lead for good.
Purdue Fort Wayne cut the deficit to 11 points with 14:22 left and 10 with 7:05 left, but could get no closer.
North Dakota's Marlon Stewart had a game-high 29 points with nine boards and eight assists.
UND shot 56.8 percent (25-of-44) in the game. The 'Dons finished at 42.4 percent (25-of-59).
Jarred Godfrey had 13 points, Brian Patrick totaled 12 and DeMierre Black added 10.
The 'Dons had double-digit steals (11) for the sixth time this season.
Purdue Fort Wayne recorded double-digit offensive rebounds (12) for a seventh-straight game. It is the longest streak for the Mastodons since the 'Dons put nine double-digit offensive rebound games together in 2012-13.
The 'Dons fall to 8-9 (1-1 Summit League). North Dakota improves to 8-8 (2-0 Summit League). The Mastodons are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 8) in a Summit League contest at Western Illinois. Tip from Macomb, Illinois is set for 8 p.m. ET.
