Moran Named Nike Horizon League Student-Athlete Spotlight

INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne senior Sammy Moran was selected for the Nike Horizon League Student-Athlete Spotlight, the league announced on Monday (Oct. 26). Moran is a member of the men's cross country team and track and field team. Each week throughout the fall season, the Horizon League highlights one male and one female student-athlete from across its 12 member institutions for their successes both on and off the field of competition.
Moran ran a career best time of 26:16.9 in the 8K at Summit League Cross Country Championships in 2019 and finished with a time of 26:00.4 in the 5-mile at the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame. He is a three-time Summit League Honor Roll recipient and was named to the Summit League All League team in 2019. Moran is also a two-time Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence recipient.
Moran is the second Mastodon to earn the accolade since redshirt-senior goalkeeper Lorah Pund received the award on September 14.
