Tucker Runs 60 Meter Hurdles School Record at #HLTF Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team completed day one of the Horizon League Indoor Championships (Feb. 28) in second place.
The Mastodons finished the first day in second place with 25 points as a team. Youngstown State leads all teams with 91 points.
The 'Dons DMR team of Boden Genovese, Braydn Livingston, Joshua Roper and Sam Dunnett took second with a time of 9:58.17, earning eight points for Purdue Fort Wayne as runner-up.
Freshmen Dalyn Givens and Sawyer Ruminer both earned points for the Mastodons in pole vault. Givens finished in third place, with six points, and Ruminer placed fourth for five points.
Three 'Dons took the podium in the weight throw at the event, for a total of six points. Owen Kaufman threw a personal record 16.61 meters for sixth, Hunter crew finished in seventh from a 15.58 meter toss and Denton Jacobs had a personal record 15.41 meters for eighth.
Alex Evans jumped a personal record 5.95 meters in the long jump.
Kaleb Tucker broke the 60 meter hurdles school record for the third time this season, this time in the preliminary round. His time of 7.88 was the fastest of all competitors and qualified him for the finals.
Two Purdue Fort Wayne runners earned spots in the 60 meter dash final. Freshman Tristen Newsome finished in second of the first heat with a personal record time of 7.00. Jaylin Springer ran a 7.06 in the event and qualified with the eighth fastest time in the event.
Noah Morris and Ashton Brann each qualified for the 200 meter dash finals. Morris finished with the fifth fastest time (21.97) in the qualifiers and Brann had the eighth quickest (22.31).
Luca Merita and Tyler Hess began their heptathlon prior to the runner events. Merita capped off the day in second with 2769 points, setting personal records in the shot put (12.15 meters) and high jump (1.83 meter). Hess is in 12th with 1807 points, finishing with personal records in the 60 meter dash (7.62), long jump (5.21 meters) and high jump (1.50 meters).
Braydn Livingston qualified for the 800 meters after running a personal record 1:54.25. Kale Seymour (1:55.36) and Troy Golden (1:55.78) also ran personal records in the event.
