Know Your Foe
IUPUI was voted the unanimous preseason favorite in the Horizon League Preseason Poll and was 2-1 in nonconference play. The Jaguars beat Northern Illinois and Ball State on the road, but fell at Notre Dame 65-58. Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year Macee Williams is leading IUPUI with 19.3 points per game, coupled with Sydney Roule who averages 11.3 points.
The Series
The battle of I-69 has had 31 games in its history, dating back to 1980, but the two teams have not met since 2017 when IUPUI left the Summit League. The last win for the Mastodons came on February 22, 2014, when they won 78-73 behind 36 points from Amanda Hyde.
Now That's a First!
Purdue Fort Wayne freshman Jaida Wolfork recorded double-digit rebounds in her first two games as a Mastodon. Given available game-by-game records, she became the first freshman in program history to grab 10 boards in her first two collegiate contests. She was also the first Mastodon freshman to record 10 rebounds in back-to-back games since two players did it in the 1999-2000 season, but Wolfork is the first to do so in the Division I era.
Hess of a Marksman
While she doesn't get to the line all that often, Hannah Hess is excellent from the free throw line. For her career, Hess is a 90.4 percent free throw shooter with a 93.8 percent clip as a junior. She has only missed four of her 42 freebies in her career, one in each of her four seasons.
I'll Take That Basketball, Thank you!
