Normally for Winning Wednesday we take a look back at some memorable wins for the 'Dons, but for 12 weeks we'll be featuring the best of the best in Mastodon history. Each week, we'll highlight a class of the Mastodon Hall of Fame.
2010 Hall of Fame Class
Lisa "Cheeks" Sheehan Hormann - Women's Volleyball, Supporter - As a player, became program's all-time leader in aces with 247 and single-season aces with 86 in 1983 and 1984 ... Led the 1984 team to its first Great Lakes Valley Conference championship and a 34-14 record ... As a head coach for the program, she led the the Mastodons to an overall record of 87-50 ... Also served as a statistician for the men's and women's volleyball teams after her time as head coach.
Dr. Ed Leonard - Pioneer, Supporter - First men's golf head coach for the Mastodons ... Coached Dan Gerard to the Mastodons' first-ever NCAA postseason competition, the NCAA Division III National Championships ... Served as the Chairman of the Joint Athletic Committee and was instrumental in the addition of women's athletics.
Rico Martin - Baseball - Top five in program history in batting average (.365), slugging percentage (.637), highest on-base percentage (.445), home runs (25) and runs batted in (117) ... Led the Mastodons to a 9-9 GLVC season in 1998, which earned them a third-place finish.
Wendy Recker Pettis - Women's Basketball - Program leader in assists with 419 and assists average with 5.1 per game ... 1994-95 and 1995-96 Academic All-GLVC selection ... 1994-95 GLVC All-Tournament Team member ... Led the Mastodons to the 1996 NCAA Division II Tournament.
Matt Zbyszewski - Men's Volleyball - MIVA Player of the Year in 2003 ... All-MIVA First Team in 2004 and 2005, Second Team in 2003 ... AVCA All-America First Team selection in 2004 ... Fourth in program history in kills with 1,703.
