Marano Breaks 400m Record on Day Two

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - On the final day of competition, the Mastodon men's track and field program finished with a new school record in the 400m dash at the YSU National Mid-Major on Saturday (Feb. 1) in the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
Ben Marano broke his own record in the 400m dash with a time of 50.09, 0.79 seconds faster than his previous record. Marano ended the 400m dash in sixth place and was in the 200m dash, finishing in 31st (23.00). Braxton Trittipo also competed in the 400m dash and ended the event with a time of 50.86 and was in 12th place. Trittipo was in the 200m as well and finished in 25th (22.88).
Tyneilus Morrow made his Mastodon debut in the 60m dash (7.13) and the 200m dash (22.81). Morrow finished the 60m dash in 14th place and the 200m dash in 20th. Luke Beehler ran his first event in the 60m dash and finished in 23rd with a time of 7.18. Gabriel Garcia made his way through the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.76 and a 13th place finish.
In the 800m run, Nick Derickson led the Mastodons in 13th place (1:58.91) and Weston Miser finished in 21st (2:00.24). Elijah Inuwa also made his Mastodon debut in the mile run and finished in 11th (4:28.05). Husam Saleh was in 15th (4:29.94) and Robert Peck made his way into the 20th spot (4:35.23) for the mile.
Two Mastodons finished the 3000m run under nine minutes. Michael Oliver finished in 13th (8:49.47) and Andrew Whitinger was in 18th (8:58.51). Alex Barton (31st, 9:18.09), Karter Tow (35th, 9:25.73) and Austin Rockstroh (40th, 9:30.23) rounded out for the 'Dons.
Lane Hawkins made his way into the number eight spot for the high jump with a mark of 1.90m and Bradon Gulch threw a mark of 14.07m and was in 14th place for shot put.
Purdue Fort Wayne will head back to Allendale, Mich. on Friday (Feb. 14) and Saturday (Feb. 15) for the GVSU Big Meet. The first day of competition will kick off at 10 a.m. ET with the men's 5000m.
