Osprey Creek at Martin Downs Golf Club
Designed by legendary Treasure Coast Golf Architect Charles Ankrom, the Osprey Creek course plays longer than its 7,000 yards from the back tees due to prevailing Easterly wind. With greens that roll fast and true with five sets of tees, Osprey Creek will not disappoint any golfer of any ability. Osprey Creek was a site for the PGA Tour Qualifying School and U. S. Open Qualifying. The course offers a world class, full service golf experience including a fully stocked Pro Shop, complete club repair, golf instruction, and a full schedule of fun, social and competitive events.
Mastodon Lineup
Callahan Elzey, Eric Brinker, Kasey Lilly, Burke Pitz and Jacob Deakyne will play for the Mastodon team scores. Parker Deakyne and Cody White will play as individuals.
(Double) Eagle
Last fall, Kasey Lilly became the first Mastodon to record an eagle and a double-eagle in the same day of play. He did this by carding a 3 on the 10th hole at the NCR Country Club. He turned around on his second round and nailed his second shot on the 560-yard par-five sixth for the only albatross in the field.
Top-10 Finishes
Eric Brinker and Callahan Elzey lead the Mastodons in career top-10 finishes. Brinker has four, including a medalist honor at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in his freshman year in 2018. Elzey has five, three of which came last season. He earned a top-five finish twice last season as a junior.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne ended its fall season with a ninth-place finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational. Freshman Kasey Lilly led the way with a 25th-place outing. He also had a first in the men's golf program: carding an eagle and an albatross (double-eagle) on the same day.
Next Time Up
The Mastodons will take the course again on March 9-10, when they compete in the Orlando Invitational in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, which is hosted by George Mason. The 'Dons have not competed in George Mason's event since 2016, when they finished 10th of 18 teams.
