Scouting Ball State
The Cardinals are 8-4, 1-1 MIVA, coming into the match with Purdue Fort Wayne after a 3-1 loss against No. 5 Lewis. Nick Lavanchy recorded a match-high 11 digs and six assists. Kaleb Jenness had 15 kills and is sitting at number two in the MIVA standings in kills per set with 3.94. Ball State's five-match win streak was snapped in the loss. The streak was the longest since the Cardinals won five in a row in 2018.
Scouting Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes are 9-4, 1-1 MIVA and will be playing against Loyola before coming to Fort Wayne. Martin Lallemand had 14 kills in three sets and Michael Wright tallied 34 assists. Wright helped lead the Buckeyes to a .340 hitting percentage and contributed to five players recording seven or more kills.
Cardinals vs. 'Dons
The Mastodons and Cardinals are going head-to-head after Purdue Fort Wayne took down the Cardinals 3-0 twice in 2019. It was the first time that the Mastodons have beaten Ball State 3-0 in back-to-back matches in program history. Pelegrin Vargas had 19 kills with a .351 percentage to lead the Mastodon attack on March 26, 2019. Tony Price, Michael Keegan, Tomas Gago, Richie Diedrich and Vargas all earned an ace.
Buckeyes vs. 'Dons
Last time the 'Dons and Buckeyes met, Ohio State walked away victorious after a 3-2 win. Then-senior Alex Dickmann led the Mastodons with 16 kills, pairing with Pelegrin Vargas' 13. Tomas Gago had seven kills. Dickmann was one dig short of a double-double.
