Gulch Sets School Record in Shot Put on Day One

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - On day one (Friday, Feb. 28) of the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships Presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team finished with one school record at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. The Mastodons are in seventh place going into day two. North Dakota State is in first with 74 points.
Bradon Gulch led the way for the 'Dons in the shot put with a new school record mark of 14.85m and earned a 15th-place finish. Luke Beeheler jumped his way to a mark of 6.42m in the long jump and finished in 12th. Daniel Tyler was shortly behind Beehler in 15th and had a mark of 6.29m.
Tyneilus Morrow ran a time of 7.06 in the 60m dash and ended in 14th. John Jackman was two spots behind in 16th with a time of 7.30. Morrow also made his way into the top 15 in the 200m with a placement of 14th and a time of 22.68. Braxton Trittipo was in 15th (22.70) and Jackman was in 17th (23.30).
Ben Marano crossed the finish line in 12th place for the 400m dash. He clocked in with a time of 50.28. Trittipo was next in 13th with a time of 50.61.
Four Mastodons competed in the 800m run. Conner Bayne was in 17th (2:05.79), Weston Miser was in 18th (2:05.99), Robert McPherson came in at 19th (2:07.21) and Nick Derickson finished off the 'Dons in 21st (2:12.60).
Five more 'Dons ran in the 3000m run with Sammy Moran finishing in 12th and a time of 8:54.90. Andrew Whitinger was in 13th (8:59.10), Alex Barton was in 19th (9:13.68), Austin Rockstroh finished in 21st (9:27.25) and Karter Tow was in 23rd (9:28.73).
Purdue Fort Wayne will continue at the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (Feb. 29) at 9:30 a.m. ET with the men's heptathlon.
