Two Mastodons Hit Home Runs Against Austin Peay

Grant recorded her first homer of the year in the first at bat of the game, going yard over the center field wall. Austin Peay scored by way of a home run in the bottom of the frame to tie it up at one early.
The Governors had another long ball in the third to take a lead that they did not give up the rest of the way. They tacked on another in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
Hale joined Grant as the newest Mastodons to record a home run, as she recorded one of the three-run variety in the sixth. She drove in Olivia Stansbury and Abby Baez, who both got on base after being hit by pitches.
Purdue Fort Wayne had the tying run at the plate in the seventh inning, but the Governors' fielders managed to shut down the Mastodons' offense.
Shaina Eyre fell to 3-5 while Harley Mullins improved to 5-5. Purdue Fort Wayne moves to 3-18 and Austin Peay improves to 9-11. The Mastodons will be back in action on Tuesday (March 10) in their first midweek game of the year. The 'Dons will play at Evansville with a 2 p.m. ET first pitch.
