'Dons and Vikings Meet For Pink Out Match on Tuesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team will meet with Cleveland State on Tuesday, October 12 at 6 p.m. for the Mastodons' Pink Out match.

Series History
The Mastodons and Vikings have met six times since their first meeting in 2003, with five of those matches coming since 2011. The two squads have played two Horizon League matches in their short time as league foes, both coming in the spring of 2021. They split those two matches evenly, both taking a 3-1 win.
Know Your Foe
Cleveland State is 6-12, 4-3 Horizon League, and is coming off a three-match losing streak. The Vikings lost to Green Bay (3-2), Milwaukee (3-0) and UIC (3-1). To start league play, CSU beat Robert Morris, Youngstown State, IUPUI and Oakland. Peyton Bloomer and London Portis are leading the team with 2.66 and 2.61 kills per set, respectively. Audrey McConihe is pacing the defensive line with 3.67 digs per set.
Think Pink!
Tuesday's match with Cleveland State will be Purdue Fort Wayne's annual Pink Out match. The 'Dons will wear pink to honor breast cancer survivors and increase awareness. All the Mastodons will wear their normal jersey numbers, except Joanna Larsen and Molly Mirabelli will wear 24 and 13, respectively.
Only One Has Played More
Only one Division I institution has played more volleyball than Purdue Fort Wayne this season: Eastern Kentucky. The Mastodons have played 80 sets this season and Eastern Kentucky has played 82.
Leader For a Reason
Katie Crowe has led the Mastodons in kills in all but two matches this season. She has 276 kills, 76 more than the next player on the team: Maggie Castleman. The only matches where Crowe did not lead the team, at No. 9 Purdue and at Robert Morris, Castleman led the team.
Saturday Night Five
The Mastodons have played six five-set matches this season (SIUE, Kent State, Liberty, Green Bay, UIC and Oakland). Purdue Fort Wayne opened Horizon League play with three five-set matches in its first four games.
Double Trouble
Katie Crowe has 10 double-doubles this season, with 55 total in her career. She had three consecutive against SIUE (17k, 10d), Evansville (12k, 11d) and Kent State (13k, 12d). She then got back to her double-double ways with one at Western Michigan with 15 kills and 12 digs. She recorded her 50th double-double against Old Dominion with 21 kills and 10 digs. Most recently, she got a pair of double-doubles at Robert Morris and Youngstown State.
