10/23/2021 4:56:00 PM | Men's Soccer
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Purdue Fort Wayne held a 17-13 advantage in shots on Saturday (Oct. 23) at Green Bay, but in the end neither team found the back of the net as the two clubs tied 0-0 (2 OT) in Horizon League men's soccer action.
While the game would go to overtime scoreless, the 'Dons had some good chances in the second half. In the 59th minute Nathaniel Edwards sent a shot from the edge of the box just above the crossbar. Ali Nasser had a shot that was saved in the 69th minute after he corralled a cross in the box by the 'Dons. Seth Mahlmeister picked up a pair of shots in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
In the 96th minute, the 'Dons earned multiple attempts during a scramble drill in the box. Keith Larson and Logan Lee finished with shots on goal in the frantic few seconds but didn't find the back of the net.
A header by Ayrton Redmore off a corner kick in the 101st minute nearly snuck in the upper right corner of the net before it was knocked away. The shot set up another corner kick for the 'Dons, but that would be all that came of the possession.
Each team finished with six corner kicks in the game.
Purdue Fort Wayne's Danny Salazar made three saves for the 'Dons for his second consecutive shutout.
The Mastodons move to 4-8-2 (2-5-1 Horizon). Green Bay is now 1-9-4 (0-6-2). The 'Dons are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 30) at home against IUPUI.
