The Mastodons and Jaguars were tied after 45 minutes of play, despite the 'Dons having an 8-4 advantage in shots. IUPUI had all four of its first-half shots in the first 18 minutes. Purdue Fort Wayne had six shots after this point. The Jaguars' most dangerous shot in the first half came inside the six-yard box, but Danny Salazar smothered the ball before IUPUI could take further advantage.
Logan Lee put a strike on target 24 minutes in, but IUPUI's Lucas Morefield got a save. Late in the first half, the 'Dons had a good opportunity with a corner kick leading to a shot that Luke Benford had blocked. After halftime, Lee had another shot on goal in the 50th minute to the top right corner, but IUPUI's keeper made another play to keep the match scoreless.
