FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The sixth seeded Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team returns to Highland Heights, Ky. to compete in the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals against Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 31 (1 p.m.).

On Friday, Oct. 29, Morgan Reitano, Gabrielle Fanning, and Bella Reitano were named to All-Horizon League teams.
Morgan earned All-League First Team honors. She is the first Mastodon since Tylar Allison in 2012 to earn a First Team All-League honor. Fanning earned Second Team All-League for the second straight season. She is the first Mastodon to earn two league honors since Tara O'Tolle did it in 2010 and 2011. Bella Reitano earned Horizon League All-Freshman honors. Rylee Vruggink earned All-Freshman team honors back in the spring of 2021.
Scouting the Mastodons
The Mastodons clinched their first league tournament berth since 2013 when they were a member of the Summit League. The 'Dons finished the regular season with a 1-0 loss against Cleveland State on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
With a win, the Mastodons would take on top seeded Milwaukee on Thursday, Nov. 4 in Milwaukee, Wis. in the Horizon League semifinals. The Horizon League semifinals and championship matches will be held in Milwaukee.
The 'Dons are led by the sister duo of Morgan Reitano and Bella Reitano. The two have combined for 10 goals, six goals for Morgan, which is tied for eighth in the Horizon League, and four goals for Bella. The 'Dons are 5-1-1 when either Reitano sister scores a goal.
Other key contributors for the 'Dons include Kelsey Gallagher, who is second on the team in points with 10. She's contributed two goals and added six assists. Her six assists is tied for the most assist in a single season in women's soccer program history. The mark is also tied for third in the Horizon League. Gallagher was also named to the 2021 Horizon League All-Academic Team.
Samantha Castaneda has started all 18 games in net for the 'Dons. She ranks first in the Horizon League in minutes played (1704:40) by more than 200 minutes, second in saves (100), and tied for third in the Horizon League in shutouts (four). Her first half save against Cleveland State earned the No. 10 spot on ESPN's Top 10 plays.
Scouting Northern Kentucky
After starting conference play with a 6-0 record, the Norse finished the regular season losing four of their final five games. The Norse defeated Wright State 2-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 27 in Dayton, Ohio.
The Norse's leading goal scorer is Sofia Wilmes with five goals on the season. She also leads the team in points (12) and is tied for second on the team in assists (two). Kaya Vogt leads the Norse in assists with four.
Mimi Stines has appeared in 17 games and started in 16 in goal for the Norse. She has racked up 56 saves, has a 1.11 goals against average and recorded four shutouts on the season.
