Whitinger Places in Top 10 at the Horizon League Championships

CARMEL, Ind. – Andrew Whitinger placed in the top 10 to lead the Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30.
The Mastodons finished seventh out of 11 teams with 167 points at Saturday's championship race.
Whitinger finished Saturday's race in seventh place with a time of 26:03.2.
His seventh-place finish is the highest a Mastodon has finished at a conference championship meet. He is the just the third Mastodon to place in the top 10 individually at a conference championship meet. The last time a Mastodon finished in the top 10 in a conference championship meet was Logan Kitchen back in 2017.
Behind Whitinger was Draven Thompson, who finished in 30th place with a time of 27:00.9, Jared Neff in 32ndwith a time of 27:04.4, Nathan Mills in 57th with a time of 27:52.9, Kehinde Oladapo in 62nd with a time of 27:57.7, JT Hodges in 65th with a time of 28:15.5, Husam Saleh in 71st with a time of 28:28.4, and Kobe Milledge in 84th with a time of 28:56.8.
IUPUI won the team championship with 30 points. UIC's Carlos Cabrera was the race winner at 25:36.8.
The Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team will continue play on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Great Lakes Regional meet in Evansville, Ind.
