Mastodon Women's Volleyball Falls at Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped a road contest at Northern Kentucky on Friday night (Oct. 8), as the Norse took the match 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-17).
Northern Kentucky opened the match with a 7-3 stretch that Katie Crowe halted with a kill. Maggie Castleman and Madelyn Wurster had kills in a 3-0 push that brought the 'Dons within four at 19-15. Crowe had an ace after a Ramei Jackson kill to bring it within three, but NKU took three of the last four to take set one.
The Norse had a 4-0 stretch with two kills and a block that force the 'Dons to burn a timeout early in set two. Alexandra Traciak served the 'Dons back into set, spurring a 4-0 run featuring an ace and kills from Leigha Baldwin and Katie Crowe. NKU closed the second set on a 4-1 run.
Thanks to 3-0 and 5-1 runs from NKU, the Norse took a significant lead in set three to end the night early. Jackson picked up two kills late after a Mastodon timeout.
Crowe had 11 kills to lead the Mastodons, while Jackson was also in double-figures with 10. Rachael Crucis had 13 digs to pace the defensive efforts.
The Mastodons fall to 4-16, 2-5 Horizon League. NKU improves to 8-6, 4-1. The 'Dons will face Wright State tomorrow, Saturday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
