
Purdue Fort Wayne Welcomes Two Softball Coaching Staff Members

Sanderson joins the Mastodon staff after a stop at Alverno College, a Division III institution in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She spent two seasons with the Inferno, primarily responsible for the pitching staff, while also acting as interim head coach between hires in her first season.
In the abbreviated 2020 season, her pitching staff was highlighted by freshman Seneca Peterson who finished the year with a 0.83 earned run average. Prior to her stint at Alverno, Sanderson spent one year at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where she also served as the pitching coach.
Sanderson is no stranger to Horizon League softball, as she was a member of the Green Bay Phoenix program for two seasons before transferring to Northwestern Ohio. She earned six wins with a 3.60 ERA, which paved the way for a place on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore, she recorded nine wins in 21 starts. She struck out 91 batters in 122 innings. Once at Northwestern Ohio, Sanderson won 35 games in two seasons with 175 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA.
Sanderson graduated from Northwestern Ohio with a bachelor's degree in Sport Marketing and Management in 2017, then received her master's degree from Alverno in Organizational Development and Leadership in 2020.
Hendershott comes to Purdue Fort Wayne as a graduate assistant after playing four years of softball at Michigan State. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection while with the Spartans. Prior to MSU, Hendershott was a two-sport athlete at Lake Superior State for one season, lettering in both softball and basketball.
Hendershott was a four-year letterwinner at Brandon High School in Michigan, earning All-State First Team honors twice. She graduated from Michigan State in 2020 with a degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in athletic administration and a minor in coaching and leadership.
Sanderson and Hendershott join the Mastodon coaching staff to lead Purdue Fort Wayne in its first season in the Horizon League. League play for the 'Dons is set to begin on March 12, when Cleveland State visits Fort Wayne.
