CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team fell at Cleveland State 1-0 on Friday (March 12) in Horizon league play.
The only goal of the game came in the 40th minute. Jannis Schmidt scored his fourth goal of the season by finishing into the left side of the net. Pablo Kawecki earned the assist.
The Vikings recorded an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Alejandro Lopez, Ali Nasser and Vukasin Bulatovic each had a shot for the Mastodons. Lopez' shot in the 82nd minute went wide right for the Mastodons' final shot of the game.
Erik Josson made seven saves for the 'Dons. Omeed Naeemy recorded a shutout for the Vikings.
The 'Dons fall to 2-4 (2-4 Horizon). Cleveland State improves to 4-3 (4-3 Horizon). The 'Dons host UIC on Thursday (March 18).
