The Mastodons' hopes for a victory were dashed following an eight-run Milwaukee second inning. Nate DeYoung hit a grand slam in the inning.
The Mastodons responded with three runs in the top of the third. Lang tripled with one out to score Zac Baden. Aaron Chapman folowed with a home run, his second of the series. It made the score 8-3. It would be as close as the Mastodons would get after Milwaukee answered with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Mitchell Buban finished with three hits for Milwaukee. Marcus Cline recorded two RBI and two runs.
Lang finished with two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Baden had two hits and a run scored.
Gerald Pintarich is now 0-1 with the loss. He allowed eight runs (three earned) in 2.0 innings. Jack Mahoney threw 4.0 innings of no run ball to get the win and move to 2-3.
Milwaukee improves to 7-12 (7-5 Horizon). The 'Dons fall to 7-12 (4-8 Horizon League). Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Northern Kentucky this week. Thursday's contest will be played 3 p.m. at Mastodon Field. Friday's game will be 4:30 p.m. at Parkview Field. Saturday's doubleheader at Parkview Field will start at 11:30 a.m.
